Units from South Sumter stations responded to multiple calls for service over the past few days.  Siloam and other stations responded to a structure fire in the 8000 Block of US Highway 80.  Arriving units found light smoke showing from a wood frame dwelling.  The fire was located on the stove and the fire was quickly brought under control.  The home was vented of smoke and the homeowners were able to continue to occupy the structure.

Units responded to several medical calls in addition to two motor vehicle accidents.  The most recent MVA occurred at the intersection of US Highway 80 and Alabama Highway on Scratch Hill.  Fire department units were hampered in their response due to a mistake at dispatch.  Arriving units found the patient had already been treated and was being loaded for transport by the ambulance.  Fire Department units remained with the accident until Alabama State Troopers arrived to take custody of the scene.  Area roadways are wet due to the large amount of rain that has fallen this weekend.  Everyone please be careful in the South Sumter area.
